Wizards of the Coast has denied rumors that Tencent is looking to buy Hasbro’s Dungeons & Dragons IP.

Wizards of the Coast Denied Rumors Dungeons & Dragons Sold to Tencent
A few days ago, Pandaily claimed that Tencent was looking to buy the Dungeons & Dragons IP from Hasbro. According to Pandaily, Hasbro’s financial problems are the main reason for the planned sale.
In addition, Pandaily claims that Larian Studios acted as an intermediary in the deal. Hasbro initially explored Larian Studios as a potential buyer of the Dungeons & Dragons, IP but the studio did not have the funds. Hasbro then turned to Tencent which owns 30% of Larian Studios.
Now, Wizards of the Coast has denied the report through a statement to VGC:
We regularly speak with Tencent and enjoy various partnerships with them across a number of our IPs. We’re not in the habit of commenting on rumors floating around the internet, but to be clear: we’re not looking to sell our Dungeons & Dragons IP.
We will continue to talk with partners about how we deliver the best digital experience for our fans. We will not comment further on speculation or rumors about potential M&A or licensing deals.

It’s ridiculous that I have to tweet about not buying something that isn’t on sale, so I won’t do it. But in case you’re wondering, we won’t. Hope that clears it up.
