Rod Fergusson Leaves Blizzard Entertainment

August 8, 2025 – The general manager of the Diablo franchise, Rod Fergusson, has departed from Blizzard Entertainment.

“After five years of leading the Diablo franchise with four major launches, it’s time for me to leave Blizzard/Microsoft, sword in hand, and see what’s next,” Fergusson wrote on his social media.

“These teams are set up for success, with an exciting lineup of releases ahead. I am very proud of what we have built together and look forward to what’s next for Diablo and for myself.”

In a statement to IGN, Blizzard Entertainment declined to provide further comments on the reasons behind Fergusson’s departure or who will lead the Diablo franchise in the future.

Blizzard Entertainment’s President, Johanna Faries, responded to Fergusson’s social media post by saying: “Guiding a franchise like Diablo requires rare talent, vision, and collaboration. Thank you, Rod, for bringing all of that. Sanctuary’s future is brighter because of your impact!”

“You brought strength, fighting spirit, and vision to one of the most iconic game franchises. Playing Diablo IV with you was a joy—thank you for all you’ve contributed to the game and this community,” added Microsoft Gaming CEO, Phil Spencer, on Bluesky.
